Design Making Change Exhibition: Call for Projects
A temporary shelter for disaster victims is designed by a team of architects. An industrial designer creates a low-cost computer for use in developing countries. A landscape architect deploys a fresh approach to water filtration. From community-based architecture to product design, designers are increasingly recognizing the power of design as an instrument for public good. AIA Seattle is looking for examples of designers or projects in the Pacific Northwest using design as a tool for promoting social change and improving communities. The emphasis is on not only the intent and program but also the beauty of the strategy and form.
Selected projects will be featured in a traveling exhibit, first displayed at the AIA Seattle Gallery as part of the exhibition Design Making Change in Spring 2008. Send proposals with images and (brief) descriptive text as a PDF (less than 5MB) to bradb@aiaseattle.org by January 19, 2008. For more information email Brad Barnett at the aforementioned address.
